Own it, It's yours

So, I got that phrase from a good friend of mine Demet Karatas, It was a slogan she put up on her site. She's a brilliant designer and you can keep up with her on her site here. These words reminded me of another good friend of mine Zoe who I went clubbing with once. She could sense the uncomfortability and my self-conciousness screaming louder than the music in the club, that's when she whispered "Fall inlove with yourself" in my ears. Right there, on the dancefloor. Can't say that I did it all in that night, but she helped me get out of my shell for a bit. 

As falling inlove with myself was a process, I am comfortable enough with being me, flaws and all. Now to the next stage, owning my life, because it's mine. It sometimes feels wrong to be selfish and to lookout for yourself first. Not being selfish is a good thing, however, when you start putting your plans on hold to suit other people, it becomes a problem. I've learn't to say NO a lot, which is pretty difficult when it comes to family, friends and even colleagues. 

Being a pushover with no identity doesn't help you to progress in life. It just makes you unhappy, so Own your life, it's yours afterall :)
